The coach of Conor McGregor is siding with his fighter in a potential fight against Kamaru Usman.
McGregor took to social media following UFC 250 to announce his retirement. However, this could be a fight that draws him out of that decision.
During a post on social media, McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, was asked how he thinks the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ would do against the current welterweight king. Here is what he had to say (H/T to MMANews):
Conor McGregor Coach Details His Thinking
“That’ll be an interesting one. There’s a fair size difference in there. Look, I’ll be honest. Anybody up to, around about his weight class, if there is a very motivated Conor I think he beats any of them. He has knockout power, he easily has knockout power up to that weight class. And if he was to put in a serious training camp, I think he wins.”
A welterweight title defense by champion Usman against Gilbert Burns is the main event of the UFC 251 pay-per-view event.
You can see the reaction of UFC president Dana White about Conor’s decision here. Many people don’t believe that this latest retirement, which is the third time that McGregor has announced it, will stick.
