Dana White Would Rather Georges St-Pierre Stay Retired Instead Of Fighting Khabib

Dana White is pumping the brakes on a potential fight between Georges St-Pierre and Nurmagomedov.

The UFC lightweight champion fights Justin Gaethje at the UFC 255 pay-per-view event at a venue to be confirmed on October 24th. Khabib had recently stated that he wants the fight against GSP in April. These would be his last two fights.

Dana White On Khabib vs. GSP

The UFC president has said in the past that he would entertain the idea of Khabib fighting the former welterweight and middleweight champion.

However, White is now saying that he would rather not see GSP come out of retirement.

“Well, let’s see what happens with Gaethje,” White told TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter recently (h/t The Body Lock). “That fight’s got to happen first. We just hired GSP — he’s the French commentator for us now. That’s more what I’d like to see GSP doing.

“You don’t see too many athletes who go out on top,” he added. “GSP has done that, done it very well. He’s got the money, he doesn’t need the money. He’s working for us now in a different capacity and I’d love to see him go out on top.”
