Despite recent struggles, Darren Till is still holding onto his confidence and belief about his future in the sport to the point that he thinks he can be champion.
In his latest outing, Till dropped a decision loss to former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in the headliner of the UFC On ESPN 14 event at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island aka Fight Island.
Till entered this fight on a one-fight winning streak as he scored a split decision win over Kelvin Gastelum at the UFC 244 pay-per-view event in New York City, New York.
Darren Till Wants To Be Champion
While speaking with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Till made it known that he wants to be a UFC champion and thinks he’ll do so in the near future.
“When people give excuses over little things in life and the weight cuts and whatever it just doesn’t cohere with me. You either win a fight or you lose a fight,” Till said. “There is no if, buts, what’s. Yeah, if my knee was a little bit better maybe things would’ve been a bit different but it was a three-two fight for him or three-two fight for me, so I haven’t left that fight thinking anything. He was the former champ. A few more fights mate and I am going to be the champion.”
