Edmen Shahbazyan Issues Statement On Derek Brunson Loss

Edmen Shahbazyan has issued a statement on his first loss in his MMA career. 

The young prospect had his winning streak snapped when he fought Derek Brunson in a middleweight bout at the UFC On ESPN+ 31 event in Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC APEX on Saturday night. 

The finish in the fight came in just 26 seconds of the third round when Brunson finished him to earn a TKO win. 

Edmen Shahbazyan Issues Statement

After the fight, Shahbazyan issued the following comments in a post on his Instagram account: 

“I’m ok everyone just need some stitches. Thank you for all your messages, love you all! Congrats to @derekbrunson tonight he did a great job. No excuses, it’s the fight game and I’ll be back! Blessed to have the support I have from everyone!”

Shahbazyan was undefeated with an 11-0 record heading into this fight including four straight wins with three of those bouts ending by first round finish.
