Frankie Edgar Will Headline UFC Fight Night Event Next Month

UFC

Frankie Edgar has faced challenges in getting his next fight with the UFC booked.

“The Answer” and Pedro Munhoz had agreed to a 135-pound clash. The fight was supposed to take place at UFC 251, but it got moved to a Fight Night event on July 15.

The fight was nixed again when Munoz tested positive for COVID-19. The UFC tried to get a replacement for Edgar at this show, but it was decided to delay it.

It was rebooked for UFC 252 on August 15, but the fight has been moved to August 22 to serve as the main event of the card. Combate was first to report the news of the change.

Munoz is currently ranked as the fifth-ranked bantamweight in the world, but he has not competed since he lost by decision to Aljamain Sterling at UFC 238. This snapped his three-fight winning streak.

A short-notice fight this past December against Chan Sung Jung saw the former champ suffered a TKO loss. You can check out the betting odds for this original fight.
