Robert Whittaker vs Darren Till took place in a middleweight bout at the UFC On ESPN 14 event that was broadcasted by ESPN on Saturday night at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island aka Fight Island.
Whittaker was scheduled to fight Jared Cannonier at the UFC 248 pay-per-view but pulled out while Till is coming off a split-decision win over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244.
Till caught him with an elbow strike in round one that briefly dropped the former champion. However, Whittakerwas quick to get back to his feet. Fast forward to round two, it was Whittaker, who managed to knock Till off balance with a right hand and land in guard for a few minutes where he worked him over with strikes.
Now here’s the interesting part, the third round was significant as it changed the style and pace of the fight. It was a more slow yet calculated approach by both guys.
This headliner saw Whittaker get the decision win.
