UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was in attendance for the UFC Rio Rancho event on Saturday night that aired live on ESPN+ that saw Jan Blachowicz beat Corey Anderson in the first-round by KO.

While Anderson was in line for a shot heading into this fight, that is over for now. Many think that Blachowicz could be next for Jones.

After the show while speaking with reporters, Jones stated that not only was he impressed with the win but also thinks that Jan is likely to be his next opponent.

“Jan has been looking great,” Jones said to MMA Junkie. “The way he knocked out Luke Rockhold, Corey Anderson – I mean, both of those guys are known to not be able to take a punch, but he’s pulling the trigger, and he’s landing those big shots. So I think he’s very deserving (of a title shot).

“It was an awesome fight. I thought Jan Blachowicz did an awesome job, his boxing looked great. Corey seemed slow tonight. It seemed like something wasn’t clicking there. He seemed slower and more hesitant on his takedowns. Honestly, I think he was more worried about fighting me than Jan Blachowicz, and he learned a valuable lesson on what happens when you look past opponents.”

“I could totally see the UFC matching us up with each other,” Jones said. “What better way to make a claim for the title than to get a knockout like that. I got a feeling the UFC’s gonna be giving me a call real soon.”
