Luke Rockhold has decided not to retire from the sport of MMA, but rather he plans to fight again.
The former UFC and Strikeforce middleweight champion told ESPN on Sunday he has decided to resume his MMA fighting career.
“Because I felt like it,” Rockhold replied when asked why he decided to come back. Rockhold hinted at being interested in a rematch with Chris Weidman
Rockhold hopes to fight again by the end of 2020. He added that he still has about a month left of rehab on his surgically-repaired shoulder after suffering a torn labrum and rotator cuff.
Rockhold’s light heavyweight debut took place against Jan Błachowicz on July 6, 2019 at UFC 239 where he lost by knockout in the second round. This marked his most recent fight.
He has lost two straight fights and gone 1-3 in his four bouts.
