Not so fast Dana White! A new report has surfaced over his tease of Conor McGregor making a UFC return.
Earlier this week, White teased a possible matchup between McGregor and Jorge Masvidal on Fight Island. White also noted how McGregor wanted to return as soon as June. However, that’s not the case, according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN.
Per the report, Masvidal is expected to challenge Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight title rather than defend his BMF title against the former UFC champ.
“There are no real talks regarding his return to action just yet, but his head coach John Kavanagh told me that their gym, SBG Ireland, will reopen on Aug. 10,” Helwani stated. “So, some light emerges at the end of the tunnel.”
“Don’t get all excited about any rumors regarding Jorge Masvidal fighting a secret opponent or even Conor McGregor any time soon,” he added. “According to the people I’ve talked to, there has been no talk of Masvidal fighting McGregor soon or anyone not named Kamaru Usman.”
