Robert Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier Gets Booked For Upcoming PPV

In a surprising move, the UFC has booked Robert Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier.

According to a report from ESPN, the former UFC middleweight champion will return against Jared Cannonier at the UFC 254 pay-per-view card on October 24. A location has yet to be confirmed. 

Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is currently set to defend his belt against Paulo Costa at UFC 253.

Whittaker is currently ranked as the number one middleweight contender while Cannonier sits at number three. It was believed that Whittaker would fight the winner of this middleweight title fight, but that’s not the case. 

Now, the UFC 254 scrap will determine the true #1 contender.

Ravens POV: It’s a great fight, but I don’t know how this makes sense for Whittaker. He had a title fight booked but was going to have to wait for it while in a pandemic. Now, he takes the chance of losing against a really good fighter. A questionable decision, but it’s his career and he can do what he wants.
