UFC On ESPN 14 Medical Suspensions: Two Fighters Get Long Sits

With every decision comes a consequence and for those fighters who took part in battle at UFC On ESPN 14, it’s their time to faces those consequences in the form of medical suspensions. 

UFC On ESPN 14 took place on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island aka Fight Island. 

The main card aired on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET. The preliminary card was broadcasted on the TV network’s streaming service, ESPN+, at 5 p.m. ET.

Robert Whittaker vs. Darren Till in a middleweight bout headlined the show. In the co-main event, Mauricio Rua vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in a light heavyweight bout took place. 

Rounding out the main card was Carla Esparza and Marina Rodriguez in a women’s strawweight bout, Paul Craig vs. Gadzhimurad Antigulov in a light heavyweight bout, Alex Oliveira vs Peter Sobotta in a welterweight fight, and Khamzat Chimaev vs. Rhys McKee in a welterweight showdown.

  • Mauricio Rua: Suspended seven days for mandatory rest.
  • Antonio Rogerio Nogueira: Suspended 30 days for “hard bout” and left shin soreness with no contact for 21 days.
  • Fabricio Werdum: Suspended seven days for mandatory rest.
  • Alexander Gustafsson: Suspended 30 days for submission with no contact for 21 days.
  • Carla Esparza: Suspended 30 days for left eyelid laceration with no contact for 21 days.
