UFC On ESPN+ 38 Co-Main Event Fight Nixed

Korean Zombie vs. Brian Ortega

UFC On ESPN+ 38 has just lost its co-main event fight.

It was reported today by MMA Junkie that Ante Delija vs. Ciryl Gane in a heavyweight bout will no longer take place. There’s no official reason as to why, but the brief is that it’s due to contractual problems from Delija’s side, seemingly related to his previous deal with the PFL.

UPDATE: New Co-Headliner Announced For UFC On ESPN+ 38

Gane had won all of his fights to get to this point with two of them coming by the way of submission and then a decision in his last three fights. He beat the likes of Raphael Pessoa, Don’Tale Mayes, and Tanner Boser under the UFC banner.

Delija ripped off three straight wins to earn a contract with the UFC. In that time, two of those wins came by decision while his previous fight saw him get a TKO victory.

UFC On ESPN+ 38 is set to take place on Saturday, October 17, 2020 from the Flash Forum on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi aka Fight Island.
