Aljamain Sterling, the current UFC bantamweight world champion, is undecided as to whether or not ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley deserves a chance at the title if he triumphs. At UFC 280, which will take place on October 22, both of these men will be in action.

O’Malley, who is now rated 12th in his division, will take on Petr Yan, the top-ranked Russian. At the same event, “Funk Master” will compete to retain his title against previous champion TJ Dillashaw. Sterling spoke about the possibility of a championship chance in an exclusive conversation with LowKickMMA’s James Lynch if O’Malley beats Yan. He stated:

“Yes and no. I mean, if we’re going to be a popularity contest, which the UFC kind of is, then I would say it would be O’Malley.”
