Chael Sonnen thinks Conor McGregor needs to give an explanation for why USADA hasn’t tested him this year.
Sonnen has some UFC experience with drug testing, but he was not present for the USADA era’s promotion. To understand how odd it is that McGregor is the only active fighter on the UFC roster who has not had a USADA drug test this year, though, one need not have his experience.
Chael Sonnen is one of many people who have been clamoring for an explanation as to why Conor McGregor hasn’t had a drug test in 2021. But he thinks he already understands what’s going on and why the previous champ-champ isn’t being put to the test.
McGregor withdrew from the testing pool to avoid receiving a whereabouts violation while he was busy, and he will return when he is ready to fight, according to Sonnen, who was speaking in a video on his YouTube channel. However, he says that the Irishman ought to be forthright and truthful about what is happening.
Chael Sonnen thinks UFC megastar Conor McGregor needs to explain USADA scenario
“Conor has a lot of opportunities. I don’t make anything selatious out of the USADA business. If he is indeed out of the pool, I think it would serve him to tell us why,” Sonnen said. “24/7 365 to be a part of a (testing) pool that wouldn’t even matter because you’re not going to compete, there would be a responsibility for your lawyer or your legal team to come to you and say ‘Hey, let’s remove you from this pool.’ That might have just been it.”
